Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX85 memanfaatkan sensor Live MOS 16MP, yang tidak memiliki filter low-pass optik untuk meningkatkan ketajaman, Panasonic Lumix GX85 mampu memotret secara terus menerus hingga 10fps dengan single-shot fokus otomatis, atau 6fps dengan fokus otomatis berkelanjutan, serta hingga 40fps saat menggunakan fungsi rana elektronik. Perekaman video UHD 4K juga didukung dalam frame rate 30 dan 24fps, serta Full HD 1080p, dan kemampuan perekaman 4K juga memungkinkan pengambilan gambar 8MP pada kecepatan 30fps.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX85 Black Menggunakan sensor Live MOS 16MP, GX85 mampu menangkap gambar diam, resolusi tinggi serta video UHD 4K. Desain sensor menghilangkan filter low-pass optik untuk mencapai tingkat ketajaman dan resolusi tinggi, dan desainnya juga memberikan rentang sensitivitas dari ISO 200-25600 agar mampu bekerja di berbagai kondisi pencahayaan.
Perekaman Video 4K UHD
Lumix GX85K Black juga mendukung perekaman video UHD 4K (3840x2160) dengan kecepatan bingkai 30p atau 24p pada 100Mbps dalam format MP4. Full HD 1080p/60 juga didukung, dalam format MP4 dan AVCHD, serta resolusi HD dan SD. Mikrofon stereo internal dapat digunakan selama perekaman.
